LESSON 1: CAN / CAN'T
CAN
"Can" is a modal verb, can is used to express ability or to say that something is possible. Can is the same for all subjects. We don´t add an "S" in the third person. The verb that coes after "can" is in infinitive without to.
- Can speak spanish fluently. (It is possible for me to speak spanish fluently/ I have the ability to speak spanish)
NEGATIVE FORM: CAN´T
To form the negative structure of canwe add "not" after can to form one word: cannont, we also use the contraction can´t to indicate the negative form( cannot=can't)
INTERROGATIVE FORM: CAN... ?
To make questions with this structure we only change the position of the subject and the auxiliary verb. Note: The main verb is still in infinitive form.
